17 Year Old Facing Impaired Charge

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) A young snowmobiler is facing impaired charges after getting stuck in a ditch along Highway 6.
On January 7, 2026, at approximately 10:15 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Highway 6 in Fergus when they located a snowmobile stuck in a ditch.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old from Guelph-Eramosa Township, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph at a later date.
A 90-day Administrative Drivers License Suspension (ADLS) was initiated as per statute.
The Wellington OPP would like to remind snowmobilers to ride smart, ride safe and NEVER ride impaired.
