Teen Charged After Truck Stolen & Stopped With Spike Belt- Name Released

(GODERICH, ON) Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Mississauga resident with several offences following a truck theft on January 04, 2025, in the Town of Goderich.
Just after 6:20 a.m., on Saturday, January 04, 2025, Huron County OPP officers were contacted by a vehicle owner who reported their 2024 Toyota Tundra pickup truck had just been stolen from their laneway on South Street in Goderich.
Officers observed the stolen truck travelling eastbound on Huron Road and set up tire deflation devices (TDD) which were successfully deployed, deflating the front tires of the truck.
The driver was arrested without incident and charged as follows:
Joseph SHEPHERD, 19 years of age from Mississauga has been charged with:
Theft Over $5,000,
Flight From Peace Officer,
The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) including failing to stop for stop sign and driving without a licence.
The accused was processed and held in custody for a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice Goderich, where they were remanded into custody.
