(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three individuals with impaired in unrelated incidents this weekend.

On November 30, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., police responded to a report from Emergency Medical Services (EMS) regarding a driver who appeared to be experiencing medical issues on the side of County Road 45 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand.

Officers arrived and were led into an impaired operation investigation where an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made. The driver complied and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a ‘Fail’ at which point they were arrested.

Keri SINE (age 49) from Norwood, has been charged with:

Officers arrived on scene where two occupants of one vehicle had sustained non-life threatening, non-life altering injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured, and police made a Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) demand. With the result, the accused was arrested and transported to a local police station for further tests. There were no other injuries reported.

On December 1, 2024, at around 6:50 p.m., OPP were on patrol on County Road 25, in the Township of Cramahe, when a passing motorist drew the attention of police to another driver who had parked on the Highway 401 off ramp and was walking down to the ditch.

Police spoke to the driver of the parked vehicle and began an impaired operation investigation. An ASD demand was made and the individual complied by providing a sample of their breath. With the result, the accused was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

Afron MIFTARI (age 30) from Toronto, has been charged with:

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

In addition to a future court date for each driver, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
