(MATTAWA, ON) Single motor vehicle collision results in driver charged for impaired operation and other offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).
On September 1, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle on Burritts Road, Papineau Cameron Township. Upon arrival, the vehicle was flipped over in the ditch.
There were two occupants in the vehicle and the Nipissing District Ambulance transported the passenger to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. The driver was arrested and brought to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.
Deleho STERLING, 27 years-of-age from AJAX has been charged with:
Operation while impaired alcohol
Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Careless driving causing bodily harm
Possess more than one licence
Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
The accuseds drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days. They are scheduled to appear at the North Bay Ontario Court of Justice on October 8, 2024.
