(BLUEWATER, ON) - A novice driver from London is facing three charges following a crash that took place last night near Kippen.
Shortly after 9:22 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision located on London Road (Highway 4) near Kippen Road. Upon arrival officers located a compact car that had left the roadway into the steep ditch on the east side of the road.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was fortunate that he only sustained minor injuries in the crash however his good fortunes quickly changed when the investigating officer noticed alcohol on the driver's breath. A roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail.
The driver was subsequently arrested and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment in Clinton for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the intoxilizer technician and both tests were analyzed to be over the legal limit.
Xavier BARBER, 20 years of age from London has been charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus, Novice Driver BAC Above Zero and Young Driver BAC Above Zero. He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for January 4, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
