Just after 7:00 p.m., on Thursday May 2, 2019 a boy was riding his bicycle behind the Heritage Place Shopping Centre when he encountered a breed of canine animal.

The animal approached the boy and bit the rear of the bicycle. The boy was not injured nor was he bitten. The boy describes the canine as a ‘coyote’.

The Owen Sound Police have had no reports of coyote’s in the city this year. The Ministry of Natural Resources has been contacted by the police service.

We remind all citizens that your dogs cannot run freely in public places and must be registered with the City of Owen Sound. If you see an animal that is off-leash in public without a handler present, or if you encounter a wild animal that is aggressive, contact police.
