Human Remains Found In Trent Hills

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - On Saturday, April 13, 2019, at approximately 6:30 pm, officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the area of County Road 50 where human remains were discovered by citizens inside a wooded area of a park located north of the town of Campbellford.
The investigation is in the early stages and the identity of the remains is still unknown. The Coroner attended the scene and the human remains have been sent to the Center of Forensic Sciences where a post mortem examination will be conducted.
The investigation continues by members of the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit, Central Region Forensic Identification Services and Emergency Response Team under the direction of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch Inspector Brad Robson.
Police further advise that there is no public safety concern at this time.
The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released when it becomes available.
